COREnect At The EuCnC
We are almost back to normal in terms of events. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, social restrictions and health fears generated changes in behaviour and communication, but after some months of moving back to normal, we are now at a pre-pandemic status in the events area.
While a mixture of virtual-presence events is now the new reality, COREnect held a physical workshop at the EUCNC and 6G Summit 2022 in Grenoble, France on the 7th of June. The workshop was called “Telecommunications and microelectronics: How should Europe (re)-act?”
The 2022 Joint EuCNC & 6G Summit was an event that lasted 4 days and gathered around 1300 delegates from the scientific and industrial communities around the topics of 6G, Smart Networks or Connectivity from more than 40 countries worldwide.
It put together two successful conferences in the area of telecommunications: EuCNC, in its 31st edition of a series, supported by the European Commission; the 6G Summit, in its 4th edition, originated from the 6G Flagship programme in Finland, one of the very first in its area. The conference was sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) and the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP), and supported by the European Commission.
The conference addressed various aspects Beyond 5G communications systems and networks and looked already into 6G matters. It brought together cutting-edge research and world-renown industries and businesses.
It also had an exhibition place with more than 70 exhibitors, to demonstrate the technology developed in the area, namely within research projects from EU R&I programmes.
The COREnect workshop presented the key findings of the Expert Groups, and its White Paper, leading the way to a roadmap, and providing recommendations on how Europe should (re)act in the next 10 years regarding components and connectivity. to a broad ICT audience. A panel of leading experts in the area discussed the feasibility of those recommendations.
EuCNC is a major event, attracting many European stakeholders. It offered a great opportunity to disseminate COREnect’s findings and results, and allowed to exchange ideas and opinions with the participants from the telecommunications sector.

During the EuCnC AENEAS and 6G-IA signed a Memorandum Of Understanding to contribute to Europe’s leadership and technological sovereignty beyond 5G and 6G networks and services, enabled by a strong European Electronic Components & Systems (ECS) industry.
Both COREnect partners join forces to build synergies for European leadership in next-generation telecommunications. This MoU demonstrates both associations’ ambition to build on their relationship established within the EU’s COREnect Coordination and Support Action (CSA) under Horizon 2020.
